Innovation Alert!!

Our Next Innovators Club Meeting is October 26th and we are excited to welcome

R. Scott LaNeve

Scott’s topic for the evening will be: “Integrating Geographic Mapping Technologies into Executive Decision-Making”

RSVP Today!

Description:  Most business leaders have a rough understanding of popular geographic mapping software.  They may use MapQuest to get directions, for example, or to calculate the time and distance of a route.  Many programs provide answers to those questions.  Leaders may also be generally aware of programs that can plot points on a map or make regional and territory graphics.  And almost everyone has seen web-based satellite programs that provide interesting views of the earth.  However, despite being so familiar with such programs, most business leaders today do not understand how these technologies can be used to develop and pursue business hypotheses, spot trends, support strategic decisions, better understand market demographics, and literally provide a major competitive edge.  In fact, most business leaders never even ask the questions that these programs can answer – simply because they don’t imagine the answers are easily, affordably, and readily available.  Using real life case studies, this presentation aims to illustrate the potential of common programs – Microsoft MapPoint, Microsoft Excel, and Google Earth – to support executive decision making.  The idea is not to explain “how”, only “what” these programs make possible.

Objectives:  After the presentation, leaders can expect to:

1.  Become more familiar with common geographic mapping technologies

2.  Better understand the kind of information these technologies can provide

3.  See how to incorporate the information these programs provide into business planning
